This year one of our main projects has been the “Hats and Hugs” this project was started by the late Nancy Liddell the wife of Florida District Governor Dave Liddell. Nancy sadly passed away last summer but her project has carried on. the Kiwanis club of Davenport Four Corners have collected over one thousand stuffed toys for the project, Special thanks to the teachers and students of Loughman Oaks elementary, the students gave away their favorite stuffed toys to help the local children who become involved in accidents and other traumatic situations. The toys were donated to the emergency services in Polk County who in turn give them out to children who are caught up in traumatic situations.Our picture shows the toys collected by Loughman Oaks Elementary. Thanks to all who assisted.

On Wednesday we purchased over 1600 items that are needed for the students at Loughman Oaks Elementary. This is the fifth year that we have supplied stationary, pencils,erasers,glue, backpacks and many other items that are necessary for their first great step into Academia. We have also donated 1400 dictionaries over the past couple of years, and we have plans for more items for the children at Loughman Oaks Elementary School in the near future. 2009 Stuff the Bus

Our journey began on Monday 8/17 at 11:30 AM. Luis and I drove up to Best Buy and picked up this top of the line Washer & Dryer. I checked the price online for the model and found out the cost is $1,429.00 per item. The LOE received one set and East Cost Migrant Association received another at the Dundee location.
We continue this passage on Wednesday 8/19 at 10:30 AM when we drove up and joined you and Joan to do the shopping for STB. We met at Walmart in Clermont and picked up 1576 items of school supplies for a cost of $ 841.00. Walmart donated $ 50.00 so we spent $ 791.00. Delivery was completed at LOE and they were very much impressed with our donation. Once this task was completed we then drove to Best Buy for the pick up of the third set, this one was donated to ECMA for the Fort Meade location.
So, not only we STB we also provided an additional gift to LOE and the ECMA, so they can stuff their clothes.

August 18th, 2009 — Ken EmbertonYesterday we took delivery of three brand new washing machines and three brand new dryers. These were generously donated by our very good friends at Davenport Best Buy.
The washers and dryers will be donated to The East Coast Migrant Head Start Project at two of their locations,Dundee and Fort Meade. The third set were delivered by Luis Miranda and Richard Osso to Loughman Oaks Elementary school, Davenport, Yesterday. Thank you so much Best Buy

2009 – 2010 Installation Davenport Four Corners
August 13th, 2009 — Ken EmbertonWe will be having our installation of all officers and board members for 2009 – 2010 on Wednesday 7th of October at Providence Golf Club. The installation will be held during our regular 12.00PM meeting. We will be honored to have Lieutenant Govenor Brian Knowles officiate at the installation ceremony.

Alejandra Natalia Reyes is a child we sponsor in El Salvador. We sponsor her via The Christian Foundation For Children and Aging by providing a payment of around $350 per year. We also send her regular letters and small gifts. If you would like to write to Alejandra please ask Ray for her address details. The letter should be simple and brief. Write about activities and special events in your life involving family, holidays,hobbies,pets,favorite foods and the places you visit. Avoid mention of material possessions.
Do mention your friend is in your thoughts and prayers.
You may send a small gift. Make sure this fits in an envelope no larger than 9 x 12 inches weighs less than a pound and is less than 1 inch thick. Larger packages will not be accepted.
Don’t send cash or checks etc! They are often lost or stolen.
